Kothagudem: The local MLA”s son Vanama Raghavendra Rao alias Raghava, who was on the run from police after being charged in an abetment to suicide case, was taken into custody by district police.
In a terse statement issued late night on Friday, police said the accused was being questioned, but has not revealed any details where and when he was taken into custody.
It might be noted that absconding man was named in the suicide note of a businessman, M Naga Ramakrishna, who on Monday committed familicide, at Old Paloncha in the district, in which he, his wife and two twin daughters were charred to death. He also named his mother Suryavathi and his sister L Madhavi in his suicide
note.
The incident caused quite a stir as political parties and people”s organisations staged protests and bandh was observed on Friday in Kothagudem and Paloncha demanding Raghava”s arrest. An MLA of Congress party even demanded the police to shoot the accused Raghava to death.
According to police eight teams were formed to search for Raghava, who, though, was available for live debates in television news channels on a few occasions in the past few days. The accused was also summoned by Manugur ASP to appear for an investigation in connection with an abetment to suicide case which was registered against him in last July at Paloncha police station.
