Finance Minister T Harish Rao said on Wednesday that the people of Gajwel will have no water problem from this summer since the government was taking all measures to fill all the lakes in the constituency with Godavari water this summer.
Asserting that water from Kaleshwaram project will reach Kondapochamma Sagar by the end of March, Rao said all the lakes in the constituency will be gradually filled. He called upon the farmers of Gajwel constituency to be prepared for early transplantation of paddy and cultivation of other crops as they will enough water for the coming Kharif.
Addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone for expansion and beautification of two lakes located at Wargal mandal headquarters, which has Goddess Saraswathi temple, the Minister said the government will also impound these two lakes with Godavari water.
The expansion and beautification of Khan Cheruvu and Kotha Kunta Chervu will be taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 4.27 crore and Rs 2.6 crore respectively. The beautification of Kotha Kunta Cheruvu will add beauty to Wargal temple besides making it a good recreation spot for the devotees coming from across the State, he said, adding that the administration will also build feeder channel, canals and steps for Bathukamma immersion under Mission Kakatiya.
Kotha Kunta will also have 66 acres of ayacut under it since they were
strengthening the bund from existing 3 meters to 10meters.
With the development of Khan Cheruvu, Rao has said that they will bring 600 acres of ayacut under cultivation. He instructed the officials to complete the works on war-footing ahead of the coming rainy season.
Elaborating their efforts to increase the area under cultivation in erstwhile Medak district, the Minister said that they were constructing 12 check dams across Haldi Vagu.
He directed the irrigation officials to complete the construction of check dam at Lakshminarasimha Swamy Temple, Nachagiri in 45 days. In view of the increasing influx of devotees to Saraswathi Temple, Wargal, Rao asked the R&B officials to hand over their guest house to the temple’s management. ZP Chairperson, Veleti Roja Sharma, Forest Development Corporation Chairman, Vanteru Prathap Reddy DCCB, Chairman, Chitti Devendar Reddy and others were present.
Later, the Minister visited Srigiripally village of Gajwel mandal. He sanctioned 50 new 2BHKs for the village following the request of locals.
Educating the people on segregation and disposing of the waste in a proper way, the Minister said that they will also build drainage in the entire village by spending Rs 22 lakhs in a fortnight if they accept their challenge of disposing of the garbage in a proper way.
