The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has awarded 24 police officers, including two martyrs, with gallantry medals. The only two police officers in the country who were awarded with the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry are from Nalgonda district in Telangana State - Dudekula Siddaiah (SI) and Chougoni Nagaraju (constable). The two officers were killed in an exchange of fire with operatives of Students Islamic Movement of India at Nalgonda in 2015.
The Director of Fire Services of Telangana, Rajiv Ratan was also awarded the President’s Police Medal for his distinguished services. Apart from these, TSSP Commandant Y Srinivas Rao, Vigilance & Enforcement Additional SP Ch Narotham Reddy, TSSP Additional Commandant KS Natrajan Balaji, SIB Additional SP P Murali Krishna, Passport Verification Cell (Hyderabad Special Branch) ACP Md Sk Nazeeruddin, Mahbubnagar DSP A Bala Koti, Cyberabad Special Branch inspector AV Satyanarayana, Intelligence Department ASI DH Veeranagaiah, Counter Intelligence
Cell ASI V Pandu Ranga Rao, TSSP Head Constable Md Abdul Nayeem and Intelligence Head Constable D Balakrishna, were the other recipients of the Indian Police Medal.
The Police Medal for Gallantry was awarded to 24 police officers in the State, including DIG (CI Cell) Rajesh Kumar, Warangal DIG T Prabhakar Rao, Additional SP (CI Cell) M Chandra Shekar, DSP (CI Cell) A Dayananda Reddy, CI Cell Inspectors Ch RV Phaninder, V Bhaskar and K Ravinder Reddy, Nalgonda inspector AC Bala Gangi Reddy, SI (CI Cell) G Satyanarayana, ASI (CI Cell) Amril Lal Soni, CI Cell Head Constables Syed Sarwar Pasha, Md Mujeeb and SA Kareem, CI Cell Police Constables G Narendra, Md Quadeer, Md Taj Pasha, Md Musharaf Baba and S Rajvardhan Reddy, and Nalgonda Police Constables N Anik Kumar, V Ramesh, K Madhusudhan, T Shiva Koteshwar Rao, M Srinu and L Janaki Ram. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and Director General of Police Anurag Sharma congratulated the officers for their courage and meritorious services.
