Agitating doctors at Gandhi Hospital will further intensify their stir from May 1 by protesting for an hour outside the hospital premises. From May 16, doctors plan to boycott their outpatient duties.
The doctors, wearing black badges to work, have been protesting against a host of issues including the lack of timely promotions and other facilities. The administrative loopholes they say have dampened their morale.
“There are several instances of doctors who are about to retire and
haven't got a single promotion during their careers spanning 20-30 years,“ said Dr P Ramesh, city president, Telangana Government Doctors Association (TSGDA).
As per the rulebook, doctors who complete four years of terms who complete four years of service as an assistant professor and have two published publications to their credit must be promoted to the level of associate professor. After another three years and two more publications, their rank must be upgraded to that of professor.
