Municipal Administration Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar yesterday instructed the GHMC Commissioner to immediately get all the pubs and restaurants inspected and ensure that they provide the required parking space as specified in the building rules. He also warned that in case of their failure to comply with the requirements, action should be initiated against them for violations, including closure of such establishments.
Arvind Kumar observed that lot of complaints were being received by the government that a large number of pubs and restaurants are being run without providing any required parking space and as a
result, a large number of vehicles are being parked on the roads and sub-roads thereby causing great inconvenience to the general public and the nearby residents. Further, parking of these vehicles haphazardly on the road sides was not only causing traffic problems but also causing nuisance to the residents of the area.
There are serious objections that some of these eateries have encroached upon the road margins and footpaths. Kumar directed the GHMC Commissioner to take immediate action and furnish Action Taken Report to the government within a fortnight.
