With the TS-Real Estate Regulation Act (RERA) coming into effect from September 1, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has started alerting the builders and developers to get their projects that have been approved from January 1, 2017 registered.
Now, it is mandatory for builders and developers to register all their projects approved since January last year with RERA Authority before November end. Even housing society projects would have to be registered.
There are nearly 4,000 projects, including 500 commercial projects, which received approvals since the date fixed for regulation act.
The civic body has started to intimate the builders and developers on the need to register before the deadline. “Mails and messages are
being sent to all these project managements to register themselves with RERA,” said GHMC Chief City Planner S Devender Reddy.
For those failing to register their projects, action will be initiated and RERA is working out the details of penalties. Till now, buyers had to lodge complaints with Consumer Forum for any delay or lack of quality in completion of projects. For any violations in terms of building plans, they can approach the GHMC.
With RERA coming into effect, both buyers and sellers will get benefited. While, buyers will get a platform to lodge complaints in case of any irregularities, apart from delays in completing the projects, sellers will have to complete their projects as per the deadline and as per the norms, he said.
