A Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation [GHMC] bill collector was busted today by the Anti-Corruption Bureau [ACB] of Telangana for amassing illegal assets worth Rs 6 crore.
Madapa Narsimha Reddy is a bill collector for the GHMC in the Abids area of Hyderabad. ACB personnel had a tough time carrying out raids at the residence of the GHMC official. When they entered Narasimha Reddy's house at Sathavahana Nagar in Kukatpally at around 6 am Friday and introduced themselves, he ducked into a bathroom and locked himself inside. He threatened to commit suicide if the sleuths did not leave the house. But he emerged after some persuasion by his family members.
The search unearthed documents attesting to his ownership of properties worth a cumulative Rs 6 crore, which was deemed far in excess of his income.The officer has been arrested and his movable and immovable assets have been seized.Having received a tipoff, ACB personnel carried out simultaneously raids on Narasimha Reddy's residences in his native place of Siddipet and Kukatpally, and also on the houses of his family members in



Balanagar.
According to ACB, officials found several properties owned by the bill collector: one G+3 [ground plus three floors] house at HMT Satavahana Nagar, two G+1 houses at Kalyan Nagar, Balanagar and one G+2 house at Kukatpally, seven plots [three at Nizampet, one at KPHB Colony, one at Kalyan Nagar, two at Nangunur village in Siddipet district],
33.01 acres of agriculture land at Nanganur village and one acre at Cheryal in Siddipet district and two kg gold ornaments, 3.7 kg silver articles, electronic gadgets, one Maruti Swift car, two tractors, one Glamour Honda motorcycle, one Honda Activa scooter, bank balance of Rs 16 lakh spread over eight accounts, loose cash of Rs 61,000 and ten insurance police worth Rs 10 lakh.
The accused officer's bank lockers are yet to be verified. The raids continued till evening at various places. The officer revealed to agency officials that his two sons are pursuing higher studies abroad.
In the presence of the accused, ACB officials verified sale deeds and other property documents and seized them. The arrested officer will be produced in court for judicial remand.
