Municipal Corporation standing committee on Friday approved the corporation
budget of Rs 5,643 crore for financial year 2017-18. Of the proposed total budget, Rs 3,026.73
crore has been earmarked under capital expenditure and Rs 2,616.27 crore under revenue expenditure.
According to the budget approved by the standing committee,corporation projected the revenues in 2017-18 at Rs 2,926.82 crore as against Rs 2,723.24 crore this year and the revenue surplus in the next financial year wold be Rs 310.55 crore.
Capital receipts has
been shown as Rs 3,026.73 crore in the
next financial year. In the current year
it was Rs 2,475.29 crore. And the capital expenditure would be Rs 3,026.73
crore as against Rs 2475.29 in the present financial year. Besides the proposed budget, the corporation
would also receive about Rs 500 crore from the Government of India under
various Centrally sponsored schemes or program including 13 & 14 Finance
Commission Grants, Swachh Bharat, Sardar Patel Housing Yojana.
The budget proposed for 2017-18 is just an increase of Rs 43 crore over the 2016-17 budget which means no new projects have been proposed during the next financial year.
