Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) removed 195 hoardings of the 333 unauthorised hoardings identified across the city. The officials said that the rest of the unauthorised hoardings would also be removed by the month-end.
The civic body had roped in a private agency to pull down the unauthorised hoardings as it lacked equipment and manpower needed for the purpose. As per the contract, the agency has to pay Rs 12.65 per kg to the GHMC for
the dismantled steel. Accordingly, the agency removed 84 hoardings of the 195 hoardings till date.
Among the 195 unauthorised hoardings, maximum of 69 hoards were taken out in the east zone, followed by 39 in central zone, 37 in North Zone, 37 in west zone and 23 in south zone.
GHMC launched a special drive to clear the 333 structures on January 22 and aims to complete the drive by this month-end.
