The State government is making all-out efforts to operate at least three or four pumps in the Kaleshwaram project package VI and provide water for farming by June this year.

Seven pumps are to be installed in the package VI at Nandi Medaram. Of these, installation of two pumps is nearing completion and efforts are being made to install a couple of more pumps by this June end.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao instructed officials to expedite works and complete them at the earliest, said N Venkateshwarlu, Chief Engineer, Kaleshwaram

project.

Authorities said the State government had set them the target of completing installation of seven pumps under the project by October-November of this year.

On Friday, a delegation of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) led by Mayor Bonthu Rammohan visited Sundilla barrage and Annaram pumphouse works being taken up under Kaleshwaram project.

Mayor Bonthu Rammohan said the works were being executed as per the schedule. “The State government is committed to the welfare of people, especially farming community, and Kaleshwaram works are a testimony to it,” he said.
