The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has distributed 48 lakhs dustbins in the city to successfully fulfill ‘Swachh Hyderabad’, said Telangana IT Minister K. T Rama Rao on Friday.
Speaking at the ‘Swachh Survekshan 2017’ programme, said, “The central and state government sanctions funds to make ‘Swachh’ programs implemented but ultimately its common man who has to take part and keep the city clean.”
Rao said after the government launched several garbage
collection vehicles, the treatment of waste has increased manifold and made the city cleaner.“Hope the Hyderabad people will take Swachh Survekshan as a great opportunity and make Hyderabad as a role model to all cities of India,” he added.
The GHMC is conducting mass awareness campaigns through ‘Gandhian philosophy’ (to request for a drastic change constantly in the system). The idea is to encourage citizens’ participation for improving the sanitation levels of the city.
