GHMC drive against use of plastic bags

The veterinary officer, west zone, along with the staff took up a special drive against use of banned polyethylene covers by the traders of meat, dressed chicken and fish, illegal slaughtering of animals, sale of unstamped meat, unlicensed trades & unhygienic trades in Circle 24 on Sunday.

Total 15 kgs of banned polyethylene



covers were seized and a penalty of Rs.5,000 was imposed on defaulters. Total 14 were prosecuted for illegally slaughtering sheep and goats, for not having GHMC trade licenses, for selling meat without having GHMC stamp and product exposed to dust and flies and for creating insanitary conditions.
