Telangana government has curtailed the duration of entire process for the conduct of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections to 15 days from the issuance of notification.
Municipal Administration & Urban Development Special Chief Secretary M G Gopal on Monday issued a GO amending Section 33 of the GHMC Act, 1955, reducing the duration between various stages of the electioneering for the Corporation.
According to the order, the last date for making nominations, shall be a period of not more than three days immediately following the date of publication of the notification
whether or not the said days are public holidays.
The date for the scrutiny of nominations shall be the day immediately following the last date for filing nominations whether or not it is a public holiday.
The date for the withdrawal of candidatures shall be the day immediately following the day of the scrutiny of nominations whether or not it is a public holiday, and the date or dates on which a poll shall, if necessary, be taken not earlier than the ninth day from the last date for the withdrawal of candidatures. The order said that the entire process should be completed within 15 days
