GHMC instructed to speed up BHK works

Municipal Administration and Urban Development department Principal Secretary Aravind Kumar directed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to expedite the double bedroom housing works, besides capping works at Jawaharnagar dumpyard.

Inspecting the double bedroom housing works at Ahmedguda here on Thursday, he said the progress of double bedroom housing works at different sites in the city will be reviewed every Thursday.

GHMC is constructing 4,041 double bedroom houses at Ahmedguda with a township coming up in the locality, he said.GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy and other senior officials accompanied the Principal

Reviewing the works at Jawaharnagar dumpyard, Kumar instructed the GHMC officials to complete the capping works before the onset of monsoon.

The Union Government has sanctioned Rs 25 crore in the first phase under Swachh Bharat Mission for taking up capping works at the dumpyard after the GHMC made an appeal for Rs 146 crore, according to a press release.

In addition to this, the municipal corporation has also requested the Union Government to increase the financial assistance from the existing 35 per cent to 50 per cent of the total project which in principle has been accepted.
