The health department along with Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Tuesday deployed 14 vehicles in the Khairatabad zone.
The customised vans went around slums and crowded areas in different parts of Khairatabad. Sri Ram Nagar in Banjara Hills, MG Nagar in Masab Tank, MD Lines in Toli Chowk, Aghapura in Nampally, Chinthal Basti in Khairatabad were some of the localities where people were administered with the free jab. The beneficiaries were enrolled through spot registration.
On sighting the mobile vaccine facility, local residents approached the officials and their details were uploaded in the CoWIN app before they were administered the jab. The free vaccines were also administered in the commercial
establishments located in slums.
Most of these mobile vaccination centres were partitioned into three segments – registration desk, vaccination centre and waiting area. Post-vaccine beneficiaries were informed about the medicines that need to be taken in case of fever.
Vaccination at the doorstep clubbed with spot registration helped people who were not aware of the procedures to get themselves registered using the CoWIN app. People who were awaiting their second dose were also vaccinated on Tuesday. “People called their relatives and neighbours who were awaiting their second dose and after cross checking details, we administered them the vaccine,” said a GHMC official.
