The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has so far identified 77, 939 vendors and has issued 58,435 identity cards in Hyderabad under the PM SVANidhi Scheme, aimed to boost the livelihoods of street vendors who are struggling due to loss of their business due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
GHMC Commissioner DS Lokesh Kumar said that so far loans have been issued to 9425 individuals in Hyderabad while processing work to release the rest of the loans is under progress.
Each street vendor will be sanctioned loan to the tune of Rs 10,000 at seven per cent interest which can be repaid in 12 EMIs. The interest paid out of above seven per cent rate
of interest will be reimbursed under this scheme and digital transactions are being promoted to get additional financial benefit at Rs 100 per month which in turn will reduce the EMI amount paid by the vendor.
The vendors need to have Aadhar card linked with mobile and bank account, street vendor ID card issued by GHMC and Voter ID card. Majority of the street vendors under GHMC limits are receiving help from their associations in taking part in surveys, issue of identity cards and sanction of loans under PM SVANidhi scheme.
