The GHMC said it would be organising free health camps in 465 colonies in 108 wards that are identified as dengue hotspots, till August 15. So far, 345 dengue patients have been provided treatment in 175 camps. The GHMC said it was carrying out extensive anti-larval operations, including fogging, spraying, and releasing gambusia fish in identified mosquito-breeding areas.
GHMC commissioner Amrapali Kata directed officials to ensure the free flow
of water in stormwater drains to prevent mosquito breeding. Desilting operations have been ordered in areas where water stagnation is prevalent. Awareness programmes are being conducted in schools and colleges to educate students and teachers on mosquito control and disease prevention. GHMC has urged residents to maintain cleanliness and cooperate with Swachh autos for waste disposal to keep seasonal diseases at bay.
