GHMC launches smart addressing system in Hyderabad

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation would soon introduce a unique smart addressing solution for the urban dwellings within the GHMC limits. The system, Unique Smart Addressing Solution for Urban Dwellings (USASUD), has been proposed keeping in mind the benefits of providing navigation details and address location services.

GHMC officials said that the city has about 21 lakh households (625 sq.km) and intends to based on a geo-spatial solution. This will ensure the benefits of providing navigation details and address location services to the users with in the jurisdiction of GHMC.

Due to haphazard growth of city since last one decade,



it has become cumbersome to provide a solution that assigns a unique identification (house address or house number) for urban dwellings. Any optimal solution in unique house addressing will solve intuitiveness not just by the numbering scheme but also by representing the numbering scheme in a GIS-based map allowing for geo-location and navigation services.

The USASUD would be taken up under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode by engaging private operator on Design, Build, Operate and Maintain basis. It will invite request for proposal for selection of a private agency as project developer-cum-licensee to whom the project will be awarded.
