The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has taken up an innovative programme called “Swachh food bank” as an initiative to provide food for poor in the city. Health and Sanitation Assistant Commissioner N Ravi Kiran launched the programme on Friday at Katedan.
Manufacturing companies in Rajendra Nagar circle will provide biscuit, chocolate, bread and other food items to the poor through Swachh food bank initiative. The GHMC will procure hygienic
food from hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, function halls etc., across the city for Swachh food banks.
The GHMC food inspectors will takeprecautions to check the quality of the food before it is distributed. “With Swachh food Bank initiative, GHMC will provide free hygienic food to poor people. Also, sanitary workers will be provided with this type of food in the early hours” said the South Zonal Commissioner Srinivas Reddy.
