GHMC proposes to dismantle surrounding buildings near Charminar

GHMC is making attempts to beautify the surroundings of Charminar. It proposes to dismantle some of the buildings around the historic monument.

A survey is being undertaken to explore the possibilities of acquiring private properties surrounding Charminar by paying compensations to their owners. The owners of the buildings are also being consulted to surrender their properties. Fifteen such



buildings have been identified for dismantling.

It may be mentioned that everyday thousands of foreign tourists visit Charminar. 

According to GHMC officials, developmental works to the tune of Rs. 50 crore are being undertaken around Charminar. It has been decided to erect a double barricade and poles around the monument.
