Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has stood Number 1 in the Economic Survey 2016-17,
conducted by Government of India. According to the survey, the corporation is
ranked number one in maintaining transparency, accountability, participation
and generating its own revenue.
The Centre has recently conducted the survey to gauge the potential of urban local bodies (ULBs) across the country. The Centre has set parameters like transparency, accountability, participation and generating its own revenue for about 500 ULBs across the country and in which the GHMC has ranked Number 1.
Municipal
Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao congratulated the
GHMC officials on
achieving the No 1 rank in the survey through his twitter
handle.With regard to revenue generation, GHMC is on par with Pune Municipal
Corporation and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) as far as transparency
and accountability is concerned.
According to GHMC officials, the corporation, in order to maintain transparency, has inducted e-office and e-office plus system, where the file movement in the corporation can be seen by the officials and the general public.
Officials said that out of 4,69,754 e-office files created across the country, the corporation owned as many as 80,000 files. He said e-office files number was the highest created by any other municipal corporation in the country.
