Sanitation workers in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) have a lot to cheer about with Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Tuesday taking a decision to increase their salary to Rs 14,000 per month.

The Chief Minister, stating that the workers were working hard to keep the city clean, had earlier hiked their salaries from Rs 8,500 at the time of State formation in 2014 to Rs 12,500 per month. KCR had then assured the sanitation workers that their salaries would be hiked again later, and he delivered on

his promise on Tuesday. Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao, City Mayor Bonthu Rammohan and GHMC Commissioner Janardhan Reddy had also requested the Chief Minister to hike the salaries of sanitation workers.

KCR held a review meeting at Pragathi Bhavan and took the decision to increase sanitation workers salaries by Rs 1,500 per month. The Chief Minister responded positively to requests for increase in salaries of sanitation workers in other municipalities too.
