The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is starting a free Covid Care Centre in Borabanda ward.

The Natco Government High School in Borabanda has been converted into an isolation centre and the civic body has provided it with the necessary infrastructure including 40 beds.

People from Borabanda ward and surrounding areas, who test positive for Covid-19 and find it difficult to isolate themselves due to space constraints in their homes can avail the facility. The centre will be inaugurated on Tuesday, said former Deputy Mayor and GHMC corporator of Borabanda, Baba Fasiuddin.

Apart from providing an isolation facility for those who test Covid positive, a unique aspect of this Covid care centre is to help them stay fit. Accordingly, people

under isolation will also be given Yoga training. “The school is spread over 2.5 acres and in the open land, Yoga classes will be held daily,” said an employee of Natco Pharma, the company which is sponsoring the project.

Three doctors, six nurses and support staff will monitor the patients round-the-clock at the centre. “One doctor will take care of the people during the day and one will be available during the night. A senior doctor will also inspect the centre every day,” said a GHMC official.

Ambulance facility, breakfast, lunch and dinner are some of the facilities provided at the isolation centre. The staffers at the centre have kept oxygen cylinders on standby and have tied up with an agency to dispose of the bio-medical waste.
