The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has proposed that its officials adopt public toilets.The move comes after the condition of washrooms in the city was discussed by municipal administration and urban development minister KT Rama Rao in Legislative Council.
There are 362 public toilets in the city and the officer who adopts a washroom has to inspect the place and will be responsible for its maintenance.GHMC zonal commissioners and deputy commissioners
are responsible for cleanliness of toilets in their respective zones.
The GHMC has proposed displaying a sticker with “Izzath Ghars“. It has already pasted such stickers on a few public washrooms. It will also provide hand wash liquid to sanitation workers sponsored by Innova Hospitals. “The GHMC will also provide two pairs of white clothes and a pair of shoes, through CSR, to attendants,“ said N Ravi Kiran GHMC additional commissioner sanitation department.
