Traffic woes of motorists travelling from Masab Tank towards Pension Office, Banjara Hills, are likely to be resolved with Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) deciding to construct a bridge at a cost of Rs 1.50 crore.
The demand for a bridge was finally approved by the municipal corporation and tenders have also been floated inviting private companies to construct the structure. The bridge will be constructed with an estimated cost of Rs 1.50 crore and the target is to complete the structure in six months. Works are likely to commence in a fortnight, once the bidder is finalized, said a senior official from GHMC.
Replete with commercial establishments, offices and function
halls, the stretch from Masab Tank towards Pension Office on Road No. 12 is a high traffic zone.During peak hours, traffic moves at snail’s pace, especially at the narrow road space while taking left turn from Banjara Function Hall towards Pension Office.
The situation turns even worse on Saturdays and on festive occasions as many people arrive at the Venkateswara Swamy temple to offer prayers.Despite trying out different options, traffic police found it tough to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the area. In an effort to facilitate smooth traffic movement, traffic police had urged GHMC to construct a bridge from Banjara Function Hall towards Pension Office end behind the temple.
