GHMC to have 30 circles from June 1

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has now coined new names for all the circles and they will be effective from June 2.

GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy issued necessary instructions to this effect and directed the Zonal Commissioners to initiate measures to establish new circles by June 1.

The circle restructuring from 18 to 30 was done on November 2, 2016 based on the 2011 population census.

Accordingly, one circle officer was appointed, covering a population of 2.65 lakh, in the erstwhile municipal corporation of Hyderabad limits (15 circles) and one circle officer covering 2.25 lakh in erstwhile 12 municipalities, which were clubbed with GHMC as population growth was expected to increase further in these circles.

The objective behind restructuring the circles was to ensure transparent and effective administration. Each circle has different problems and appointment of circle officers is expected to address the grievances of residents effectively and early.

However, the GHMC administration had coined different circle names, including numbers and this was causing a lot of confusion among residents.For instance, 3A circle was covering Nagole, Mansoorabad, Hayathnagar and other areas and 3B circle covered Vanasthalipuram, Hasthinapuram and other



areas.

In an effort to make things easy, the GHMC administration has now coined names for each circle and specified the jurisdiction in terms of areas.

3A circle has been renamed as Hayathnagar and 3B circle as L B Nagar. Likewise all the 30 circles have been coined new names and specifying wards under their jurisdictions.

After the latest orders, Malakpet, Chandrayangutta and Mehdipatnam circles have maximum of seven divisions in their circles, while, R C Puram and Patancheru and Alwal circles have three divisions each.

The 30 circles would be Kapra (circle 1), Uppal (circle 2), Hayathnagar (circle 3A), LB Nagar (circle 3B), Saroornagar (circle 3C), Malakpet (circle 4A), Santhosh Nagar (circle 4B), Chandrayangutta (circle 4C), Charminar (circle 5A), Falaknama (circle 5B),Rajendra Nagar (circle 6), Mehdipatnam (circle 7A), Karwan (circle 7B), Goshamahal (circle 8), Musheerabad (circle 9A), Amberpet (circle 9B), Khairatabad (circle 10A), Jubilee Hills (circle 10B), Yousufguda (circle 10C), Gachibowli (circle 11), Serilingampally (circle 12), RC Puram and Patancheru (circle 13), Moosapet (circle 14A), Kukatpally (circle 14B), Quthbullapur (circle 15A), Gajularamaram (circle 15B), Alwal (circle 16), Malkajgiri (circle 17), Secunderabad (circle 18A) and Begumpet (circle 18B).
