GHMC to host national summit on June 24

A National Waste Management Summit with a focus on identifying best practices and innovative technologies in the domain of waste management is being organised by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) here on June 24.

The Municipal Administration Minister, KT Rama Rao will inaugurate the summit. Being organised in association with Elets Technomedia, the meeting will also deliberate capacity building in waste management and promoting them among the leaders of civic authorities and other key stakeholders.

The GHMC in a statement issued here said that the key objectives are to identify and promote best practices, innovations and technologies in waste management, which is an important component of Union government’s Smart Cities Mission. Initiatives and programmes taken up in the last three years by the civic body will be compiled and



released as a special edition during the summit apart from recognising enterprises in the domains of hospitality, healthcare and Special Economic Zones and IT Parks.

The GHMC Commissioner, B Janardhan Reddy said the National Waste Management Summit 2017 will be an ideal platform for the Thought Leaders and Practitioners from public and private sectors to interact on best methods, innovations, technologies and other important topics in the domain of waste management and to arrive at solutions to enlarge the scope of waste management.

Top rankers of Swachh Survekshan for the year 2016 and 2017 will be exchanging their best practises, Dr Reddy said adding, “International organisations such as World Bank, UNDP, World Health Organisation and the Embassies of The Netherlands, Spain, France and Israel have also been invited”.
