The GHMC is planning to introduce a Common Application system under the existing Development Permission Management System (DPMS) – online building plan approval system. Under the current system, applicants, especially those seeking permission for high rise structures, have to obtain approvals from different departments, including Fire Services, Airports Authority of India, Traffic and others.
Similarly, those applying for individual houses approvals will have to get clearances from irrigation, revenue and others. Despite, the GHMC approving the applications under the DPMS, applicants had to approach different departments for
approvals. Considering all these factors, the GHMC Commissioner M Dana Kishore convened a meeting with town planning, fire services and other department officials along with builders here on Friday.
Every year, nearly 16,000 building plans are being issued under different categories and of these, 13,000 applications pertain to individual houses.
The Common Application system will be like a single window operation system for obtaining approvals from all departments by filing one application. “The system will be introduced in a fortnight,” said Kishore.
