Municipal Administration and Urban Development department has decided to levy property tax with penalty on all un-authorised constructions in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits. It has also issued a GO 299 dated December 20 in this regard.
The GHMC would levy 25 per cent property tax as penalty if violation of the building is up to 10 per cent. The structure should be having permissible setbacks and floors as permitted in the sanctioned plan. The civic body would levy 50 per cent penalty if the violations are more than 10 per cent.
The GHMC would impose 100 per cent penalty on all authorised floors and constructions. Besides this, it has also mentioned in the GO that the
corporation would impose 100 per cent penalty on buildings constructed on lands without title deeds or patta, government’s lands, endowment lands, wakf lands and others.
According to the GO, the town planning wing would maintain monthly records of all ongoing and authorised structures in order to submit them to the GHMC Commissioner. After examining the report the Commissioner would forward the report to revenue wing to serve the demand notices.
The revenue officials would levy the penalties on all unauthorised structures. The monthly revision would be prepared in 'pink colour' in the existing format. It was mentioned that the monthly reports should be prepared by 10th of every month.
