Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation's standing committee on Thursday approved to purchase 20 new vehicles for Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Commissioner, Zonal Commissioners, Additional Commissioners, Chief Engineers and Chief City Planner. The vehicles will be purchased with an estimated cost of Rs 3.84 crore. This has been approved in the standing committee meeting chaired by city Mayor Bonthu Rammohan at GHMC headquarters here on Thursday.
Despite the severe financial crisis, the GHMC approved to purchase a Toyota Fortuner for Mayor, two Innova Crysta vehicles for Commissioner and Deputy Mayor and Innova GX 7 for other officials. The members agreed to depute 47 work
inspectors to speed up the State government's flagship double bedroom houses for the urban poor in the city limits.
The committee has approved eight agenda items. The approvals include penalisation of violators (non-compliance of provisions of GHMC Act and Food safety & Standards Act) through mobile App by an officer not below the rank of Assistant Medical Officer for Health (AMoH). The committee members approved sanctioning powers of Rs 25 lakhs for zonal commissioners and Rs 5 lakhs for deputy commissioners and Rs 10.92 crore has been sanctioned for shifting of water supply pipelines to enable construction of RuB at Anandbagh
