The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has decided to widen 31 critical junctions across the city. The civic authorities have prepared long-term and short-term strategies in order to ease traffic congestion under urban junction improvement plan (UJIP).
Officials claimed that the road widening will affect about 700 properties at all 31 stretches. The officials said the consultants have already submitted the reports for which technical scrutiny for seven stretches is over, six stretches are at final scrutiny, eight stretches are under tender process, tender has been
finalised for one stretch.
Tender process for three stretches is yet to begin. According to GHMC officials, with an aim to ease the traffic during peak hours at various across the city has decided to widen roads.
Road widening will be taken up with immediate effect at all junctions immediately and will be completed in one year. Officials claimed that they have also completed 50 per cent of the road widening process, which includes identification of land and properties in order acquire them.
