The entire stretch of road between Durgam Cheruvu and Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad measuring 7.90 km would soon have a white-topped road. This is one of the 64 roads identified by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation for white topping in the city.
Corporation commissioner B Janardhan Reddy said on Monday that white topping roads were being taken up for making the transportation system more effective. He along with senior officials of HMWS&SB, Electricity and other departments had a coordinated visit to places like Liberty, Basheerbagh, Abids, Charminar, Aliabad, Chandrayangutta, Dabeerpura, Saidabad, DRDL, Kanchanbagh, L B Nagar, Dilsukhnagar, Amberpet, and Secunderabad among other areas of twin cities where road works would be taken
up.
The GHMC is also planning to lay white top roads duly by providing ducts to ensure there is no digging of roads in the future. During the visit, officials observed that there was a need to replace drinking water and sewerage pipelines, electric lines on a priority. They inspected works pertaining to sanitation and re-carpeting of roads with the commissioner directing officials to take up works pertaining to pot holes on a priority.
Important areas that would soon have white-topped roads include the 5.8 km of Kachiguda-Regimental Bazar road, followed by the KBR Park road (5.20 km), Tank bund to Paradise (4.70 km), Charminar- FM Depot (Chandrayangutta) (4.30 km), Langerhouz crossroads -Puranapul (4.10 km) and OU campus road from Vidyanagar to Tarnaka (4.10 km).
