Girls have outshined boys in the Intermediate public examination results, which were declared on Friday. While girls registered 67.64 and 58.9 pass percentage in the second and first year Intermediate results, respectively, boys fared poorly securing only 58.11 pass per cent in the second year and 48 per cent in the first year.
The results of the Intermediate general and vocational courses were announced by Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Kadiyam Srihari at the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education. Giving private junior colleges a run for their money, government colleges in the state have outperformed in the results.
The government colleges registered 66 pass per cent in the second year results, while the private colleges secured only 63 per cent. However, the private colleges have secured 55 pass per cent in the first year and government colleges could manage only 45 per



cent.
A total of 4,20,180 candidates appeared for the first year in general category, while 2,25,033 cleared the examination registering 53.55 pass percentage. In the second year general category, 3,89,883 candidates appeared for the exam and 2,45,469 passed accounting for the pass percentage of 62.95. 
The overall pass percentage in the general category has come down by 2.07 per cent in the first year and increased by 1.54 per cent in the second year. The principals can collect memoranda of marks from the regional inspection offices on April 26.
The Intermediate Public Advanced Supplementary Examinations would be held from May 24 and last date for the payment of exam fee of first and second year is April 30. There is no provision for payment of exam fee with penalty after the due date. The last date for payment of fee towards recounting/scanned copy-cum-re-verification is April 30.
