In Telangana, flood situation remained grim even as heavy rains gave respite to some extent. River Godavari continued to be on spate. Water levels in the river at Bhadrachalam reached to 67.1 ft by 7 am this morning. Hundreds of villages have been inundated due to swollen Godavari and over 10 thousand people from low lying areas in Bhadradri Kothagudem District have been evacuated.
The local authorities have imposed 144 sections asking people not to venture out as the river is on fury. They also predict the water level in the river will further rise. The authorities in Bhadradri, Mulugu, Jaishankar Bhupalpalli and Peddapalli districts are on high alert and taking all measures to prevent loss of life and major damages.
Meanwhile, people and authorities in Nirmal district have breathed in a sigh of relief as inflow to Kadaem project has reduced. People of of over dozen villages and officials had tough time when the project received unprecedented inflows during last few days.
Nearly 20 thousand people have been shifted to about 230 special camps due to inundation and marooning of residential areas following incessant rains in the state during the past week.
Meanwhile, the Air Force relief team has airlifted two persons in Mancherial district yesterday. 7 NDRF teams besides local rescue and
relief teams have been deployed in the state. Three teams are deployed in Bhadrachalam, while two each are in Mulugu and Bhupalpally.
State Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is continuously monitoring the situation and issuing directions to the local authorities in dealing with the situation.
Meanwhile, met officials predicted light rainfall in 9 districts and very light rains in another 10 districts for two more days.

However, people of the four districts, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mulugu, Jaishankar Bhupalpalli, and Peddapali are still in the grip of fear as river Godavari is on spate and flowing at unprecedented levels beyond dangerous levels.
The levels in the river reached to 67.1 fts at Bhadrachalam. Hundreds of villages on the banks of the river have been inundated and about 20 thousand people have been evacuated. Seven NDRF teams have been deployed in these districts and local authorities have imposed section 144 to prevent people to go to riversides. On the other hand, relief activities have gained pace in the rest of the state following a respite from heavy rains after about a week.
