Adilabad: Patients have been shifted to the district headquarter hospital located in the main town here from the Mother and Child Health Center (MCHC) located on the banks of River Godavari on Friday.
This followed a rise in the river’s water level in Mancherial district. The MCHC was made functional in February 2022. It remained closed for a few months after floodwaters entered the hospital in June last year. It was reopened a few months ago.
Some of the women patients alleged that doctors
told them that they were being discharged and they must go home. The women were angry over the decision to construct the hospital on the banks of river Godavari, as floods remained a regular threat to this hospital.
Notably, floodwaters entered the Mother and Child Care Center last year when Godavari was overflowing. The patients undergoing treatment were immediately shifted to the district headquarter hospital for their safety. The same scenario recurred on Friday.
