Golconda and Charminar are expected to be opened for visitors from Wednesday. These monuments were closed down from April 16 for one month due to a surge in Covid-19 cases.
This follows an announcement by Director of Monuments, ASI Delhi, N.K. Pathak, who issued an order on Monday, stating that considering the prevailing situation, it has decided that all centrally protected monuments/sites and museums under ASI, shall be opened from June 16.
The order states that the opening shall be in strict compliance with the executive orders, if any, issued by the state or district
disaster management authority. Appropriate guidelines and SOPs issued by the Union and state ministries in this regard shall scrupulously be followed while regulating the flow of visitors.
In Hyderabad, Golconda fort and Charminar come under the ASI. Officials of the ASI Hyderabad Circle were not available for further details.
An official of Salarjung Museum said on condition of anonymity that this museum comes under the Ministry of Scientific Research and Cultural Affairs and it was not decided so far when to open it for the public.
