The historic Golconda Fort is all decked up for the 72nd Independence Day celebrations here on Wednesday.
Elaborate arrangements have been put in place, especially by the police, who are making sure that there are not shortcomings when it comes to security.
A total of 1,100 police personnel, starting from the ranks of the Deputy Commissioner of Police to the constables, will be on the field on the day.
Apart from 10 ACPs, 52 Inspectors, 137 Sub-Inspectors, there will be 10 platoons of the Telangana State Special Police, three platoons of Grey Hounds and one platoon of the elite anti-extremist unit OCTOPUS. Over 500 Traffic Police personnel, Dog Squads and Bomb Squads too have already been deployed and are on the job of scanning the
premises.
“Already the fort and surrounding places have been checked and the entire premise is under police surveillance. The Grey Hound personnel, Dog and Bomb Squads have secured the total area including the outer cordon wich has a hilly terrain. The Assault Commanders from the Grey Hounds have also been positioned,” said a senior police official from West Zone.
Apart from the 35 surveillance cameras that were already installed on the premises of the Fort, an additional 25 cameras had been installed for better surveillance, police said.
About 3,500 guests are expected to attend the Independence Day celebrations, for which IPS officer Sindhu Sharma will be the Parade Commander for the day.
