The Ministry of
Defence has given breather to civilians by deferring the closure of Gough Road
by six months. It means that the road will remain open till November 30. It has
given the people living in Sainikpuri, AS Rao Nagar, RK Puram, Trimulgherry and
beyond a respite.
Earlier, the Army
Ordnance Corps (AOC) announced that the road would be closed from June
1.According to sources, the Defence Ministry has once again deferred the date
of closure of the road after the State government appealed for an
extension.
It may be noted that last November the Local Army Authorities and the State government came to an understanding that alternate roads would be constructed.
The GHMC has chalked out a plan for alternate roads and the Army authorities too have agreed to part with land on its periphery. Surveys have been completed and the Army has sought equal amount of land form the State government.
