The state government has set a fresh a deadline to complete the distribution by June 20. Chief secretary SK Joshi, who reviewed the distribution with officials at secretariat on Friday, directed officiers to take up special drive by coordinating with the district ministers.
It may be recalled that of 57 lakh passbooks and cheques, 40 lakh were distributed since May 10 and the chief minister has expressed his unhappiness over the pending distribution. He appointed senior IAS officers as
special officer in each district to oversee the distribution.
He asked the special officers to review the programme with collectors and identify the problem. “There were mistakes in the passbooks such as mismatching names, incorrect names, wrong recording of land’s extent.
If the passbooks is synchronized with Aadhaar numbers, digital signatures should be completed immediately,” the chief secretary said.
