The state law department on Thursday gave permission to prosecute controversial BJP legislator Thakur Raja Singh for his alleged speech made in connection with a gau raksha meet held in 2013 at Shahinayathgunj area.
On September 29, 2013, Raja Singh organized a meeting, `Vishal Gau Rakshana Garjana' at Shahinayathgunj. While the aim of the meeting was to highlight the protection of cow from slaughter in the state, the BJP legislator allegedly made an inflammatory speech. Taking suo motu action against the BJP leader, police filed a case against him under IPC section 153(A) (Creating enmity between two communities on the basis of religion) in FIR No.2132013. Later he reportedly obtained
bail in the same case.
After completing the investigation and obtaining evidence against the accused MLA, the Shahinayathgunj police through police commissioner Hyderabad on June 14 this year sent a letter seeking permission to prosecute him under IPC section 153(A).
It is mandatory for the investigating agency to seek permission from the law department to prosecute any accused under this section. There are many similar cases pending against the BJP MLA.
“Once we receive a copy of the GO, we shall file the chargesheet against T Raja Singh,“ said Shahinayathgunj inspector M Ravinder Reddy .
