Union Science and Technology Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh yesterday said that the doors will be opened this year for investments in the nuclear sector, including for startups. Underscoring the need for greater synergy among various research institutes in the country, and also within the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Minister advocated for a holistic approach to bring the fruits of research to benefit the common people.
Speaking after inaugurating the
first-of-its-kind CSIR Startup Conclave in Hyderabad yesterday, he said that in an age of information, the private sector should also be allowed to invest as much as research institutions do. He also opined that knowledge sharing alone will not suffice, and emphasized that unexplored sectors should be focused on to accelerate the country’s economic growth and achieve the goal of becoming the third-largest economy in the world.
