Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister K T Rama Rao assured that the State government was trying to ensure that the city had sufficient drinking water supply and there would not be any scarcity of water during summer.
The Minister stated that the drinking water supply was improved this year compared to the past. The government was making arrangements to improve it further, he added. The Minister was addressing a review meeting on drinking water supply during summer with civic body officials on Tuesday.
He said the water board could gain 100 MLD water from Krishna and Godavari projects for city this year. He asked the officials to prepare a master
plan for installation of Inter Grid Connectivity in city in order to provide drinking water wherever is necessary across city.
He further said the grid must have two reservoirs of the city. He stated that about Rs 15 crore were spent to make arrangements for free tanker supply to about 120 slum areas across the city benefiting almost 30,000 families.He reviewed the drinking water projects taken up across the suburban municipalities by the water board. He asked the municipal officials to ensure that sufficient number of rain water harvesting pits are dug up across the city before Monsoon starts. He instructed the officials to involve people more in the Jalama-Jeevam programme.
