The Telangana Haj Committee on Wednesday issued application forms for the Haj season 2018. The submission of application forms will commence from December 7.
Deputy chief minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali released the application forms at Haj House.
He said that ever since Telangana state was formed, the number of pilgrims continued to increase. He assured that the state government would try to increase the pilgrims’ quota.
“When Andhra Pradesh was united, about 2,000 Hajis used to go on the holy pilgrimage. But now, more than 3,000 Haj pilgrims from the state go on the pilgrimage.
Every year, the number of Haj pilgrims is going up. This year, we will try our best to increase the Haj quota,’’ deputy CM Mahmood Ali said.
He said that the Telangana government would request the Centre to cancel certain ‘complicated’ laws for Haj pilgrims.“Haj pilgrims used to get a lot of facilities which they are not getting now. The Telangana government will take up this matter with the central government,’’ he added.
AK Khan, advisor to government, Wakf Board chairman Mohammed Saleem, special officer of Haj committee S A Shukoor and others were present in the meeting.
