Finance minister T. Harish Rao on Thursday accused the BJP of indulging in ‘backdoor politics’ and using the Governor to do its dirty work.

Addressing a public meeting in Medak, Harish Rao was referring to the recent rejection by Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan of two BRS nominees for MLC seats — Kurra Satyanarayana, who belongs to the downtrodden Erukala community, and Dr Dasoju Sravan who belongs to the Viswa Brahmin community.

"It is as if the BJP, acting through the Governor, was worried that if she accepted the nominations, then the two communities will support the BRS," Harish Rao

said.

Harish Rao was speaking after inaugurating an empowerment scheme for the Erukala community in Medak. He said as part of the plans to uplift the community, the government will provide land for Erukala societies, construct slaughter houses, and provide transport facilities and train them to conduct business online.

"For someone to rise up the ranks from this community and become an MLA is a tough task and hence Satyanarayana was nominated as an MLC but this was rejected by the Governor as the BJP was worried that the community would support the BRS," he said.
