Finance minister T. Harish Rao on Thursday said former Union finance minister P. Chidambaram had no clue about the financial situation in Telangana and should do his homework before commenting on the state’s economy.
Condemning Chidambaram criticism of the state’s financial position and budget allocations, Rao said "Chidambaram is spreading lies about our revenues and loans. Telangana’s financial health is sound compared to any state ruled by Congress. He should first read the RBI's reports on our financial situation."
Posting on X, Rao said
Chidambaram was the person who had announced that Telangana state would be formed, and then went back on his promise.
Later, addressing the BRS Praja Ashirwada Sabha in Narsapur, Rao said Chidambaram claimed that the Congress gave Telangana. "This is like saying the British gave India its independence. The fact is people of Telangana fought under the leadership of K. Chandrashekar Rao for 14 years and triumphed. It was not Congress, which gave the state, it is the people of Telangana who won the statehood," he said.
