Former Minister and Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for acting with political vendetta, violating constitutional principles and undermining democracy. He said the Congress government is targeting the opposition leaders for questioning its failures and reminding about the promises made to the people of Telangana.
Harish Rao, who was arrested from the residence of Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy at Kondapur, was released by the Gachibowli police station after keeping him in detention for more than 10 hours.
Speaking to the media, Harish Rao criticized the State’s law enforcement practices, alleging that FIRs were being drafted under political instructions rather than legal procedures. Police stations have turned into Congress party offices, he said.
“Today, FIRs are not prepared in police stations; they are being dictated from Gandhi Bhavan. Orders on who should be arrested and under what sections are coming directly from the Telangana Congress headquarters. This is not people’s governance, but a blatant misuse of power,” he said.
Holding the Chief Minister responsible, Harish Rao said Revanth Reddy promised change, but the only visible change is illegal arrests, detentions, and constitutional violations. “This rule reminds me of Indira Gandhi’s Emergency era,
which the people of this country did not tolerate for long,” he reminded.
The former Minister warned the police against blindly following political orders, reminding that their duty lies with the law and the Constitution. “Revanth Reddy is not permanent. Governments change, but the law is eternal. Officers working under illegal orders will face consequences when the BRS comes to power,” he cautioned.
He accused the Chief Minister of fostering a vengeful and sadistic governance. “Revanth Reddy is targeting BRS MLAs and leaders without cause which indicates his mindset, drawing psychotic pleasure by harassing the opposition leaders. “Instead of addressing public concerns, he is inaugurating flyovers and projects built by former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. What has he achieved in last one year? Has he built a single house or introduced a meaningful policy?” he questioned.
Harish Rao rebuked the state of democracy under Revanth Reddy’s leadership. “Democracy guarantees the right to question, but here, it is being trampled. This is not governance; it is a demonic rule. The only guarantee being enforced is the guarantee of illegal arrests,” he remarked. He reiterated that the BRS would continue to fight the Congress government’s anti-people policies and question over unfulfilled promises, notwithstanding the cases and arrests.
