The State government is targeting to complete the ongoing Covid vaccine administration drive in Telangana by December end. Health Minister T Harish Rao on Thursday directed the State Health Department to ensure that 100 per cent coverage of Covid vaccinations is achieved among all eligible adult population of the State by December end.
To ensure the target is achieved, the Health Department will conduct house-to-house visits in all districts to identify eligible individuals who have missed the second dose and those who have so far not yet received even the first dose of the Covid vaccine.
The Health Department will organise special vaccination camps in school and college campuses, government hostels, markets, government and private offices.
Special drives to address vaccine hesitancy and make people
aware of the advantages of vaccination will also be taken up. All the frontline healthcare workers including ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activists), ANMs (Auxiliary Nurse Midwives), doctors in PHCs, Anganwadi workers and other senior public health officials have been directed to take responsibility in identifying individuals who are yet to take the second dose.
Of the targeted 5.55 crore doses of Covid vaccines in Telangana, so far authorities have administered 3.60 crore doses while another 1.90 crore doses are yet to be administered across the State, Harish Rao said.
To administer the first one crore doses of Covid vaccines, health authorities took 165 days in Telangana. The Health Department completed the administration of the second one crore Covid doses in 78 days and the third one crore doses of Covid vaccines in 27 days.
