Mercury levels across Telangana are set to rise till May 9 and the heatwave conditions will likely grip most districts in Telangana said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) while issuing a warning on Monday.
According to the weather report issued by the IMD, heatwave conditions are likely to prevail at a few places in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem, Nirmal, Jagtial, Mancherial, Rajanna Sircilla, Peddapalli, Karimnagar, Bhadadri Kothagudem, Yadadri, Warangal, Mahbubabad, Khammam, Suryapet and
Nalgonda.
The mercury levels have already touched 45-46°C at many places in Khammam, Mahbubabad, Jagtial, Nalgonda and Jayashankar Bhupally. Meteorologists attributed the scorching heat to northerly and north-westerly winds blowing over the region which are generally dry with reduced moisture.
“After May 8, a confluence zone is expected to form over Telangana and adjoining areas leading to drop in temperatures.
