The unseasonal weather looming over the city continued on Thursday with the skies opening up and the metropolis drenched by a sudden heavy downpour, even as December, a month meant to leave people shivering with its cold, disappointed too. Late on Thursday afternoon, the city witnessed a spell of rain measuring close to 14 mm, which is the highest rainfall it has received in over a decade in January.
“There is a confluence zone that has formed over the city. There is a circulation
coming in from eastern and western bays, which are forming rain-bearing clouds over the city. This effect is prevalent in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Andhra Pradesh and a few other areas. However, we predict that there will be subdued rains in Telangana henceforth,” M Mohapatra, director-general, Indian Meteorological Department, told.
Following the rains, people of the city took to social media to express their feelings about the sudden rain.
