The local Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) office on Friday issued a two-day heavy rain warning for the entire state indicating that 25 per cent of Telangana's landmass will receive over seven centimetres of rainfall during this period.
“Heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in all districts of Telangana on Saturday and Sunday ,“ the warning reads.According to weathermen, the rain is likely to be triggered by a trough spanning from
Chhattisgarh to Tamil Nadu, coupled with “the presence of an active monsoon season“.
“Most of Hyderabad would receive rain, but there would be a few areas which would receive excess rainfall, anywhere between 70 millimetres and 120 millimetres. This activity , however, will pause by June 20, but after that there are chances that the monsoon might only strengthen even further,“ said Y K Reddy , director (in-charge), IMD Hyderabad.
